Coursework Checklist – Assignments 1 and 2 - print and hand in to Mr Baines by 14th December

Assignment 1
1. – PowerPoint presentation – 500 words or more – Analysis of first 5 minutes of a film.
2. A script from a scene from a film you have made up.
3. A storyboard for the trailer or a scene from the same made up film


Assignment 2
.- 1000-1200 words – PowerPoint presentation - Analysis of a print advert and a TV advert for the same product
5. Your own print advert for your own made up product
6. A storyboard for a TV advert for the same made up product


Coursework Checklist – Assignment 3 DEADLINE – 31ST JANUARY
7. All of your music video research and planning – condensed into a maximum of 12 pages. – screengrabs from your blog are fine
8. A DVD with your music video on it
9. A 750 word evaluation of the music video (guidance is in the 1111baines/music videos folder on the common drive in Media)

REVISION TIPS -mock exam

Question 1 - any range of codes and conventions could come up - so revise all go through the worksheets and also watch some clips - think about lighting, set, host, formats, contestants, theme music and sound effects.

Question 2 - usually a pitch question - task about your ideas for your own show but pitch it - like you are selling the idea of its success rather than simply describing or explaining it. Don't forget synergy.

Question 3 - usually a promotion and marketing question - revise the different types of advertising - especially modern methods - don't forget to identify specific audience demographic and psychographics - if it applies to all of them, fine - use the words demographic and psychographics and explain the mass appeal.

Question 4 - practical task - could be a be page - a print ad or a storyboard - done in pencil - label things - use the correct media terminology.

spend 20 minutes on each question - giving you 10 minutes at the end to go over things carefully.

SOUND in TV Game shows

Practical task: Use Garageband to make the theme tune for your TV Game Show. Make the logo and the ident for in between commercial breaks (or, if you are able to - the whole opening titles sequence. Extended task – make a bank of sound effects for particular moments in the show such as super prize, wrong answer/right answer / round bridges / time outs etc.

Music Video

 

·         What is the name of the song and artist?

 

·         What made you choose this song?

 

·         What music videos did you analyse during your research? What elements from these videos did you incorporate into your own music video?

 

·         Describe the concept of the music video in detail, focussing on:

 

o   Shot size/type

o   Camera angles/movements

o   Pace of editing

o   Transitions

o   Visual effects

·         For each of the elements above, explain why you used them at that point in your video, why they were appropriate, and the connotation.

 

·         Describe the target audience for the artist/video. How/why will it appeal to them?

 

·         What elements of your music video do you think is most successful, and why?

 

·         What elements of your adverts were not so successful? How would you change them?
